Quick question....
« on: September 21, 2009, 09:34:52 PM »
if I play on internal mode , in serato... Am i considered less of a DJ?

Some wack DJ here in Elko thinks he's the smartest doood alive when it comes to DJing ... He made the this statement " playing on internal mode is for lazy , uncreative djs  "

So its been bugging the shit out of me , just had to ask....

I use internal mode. I just like it a lot better than using cd decks. It's not like it auto syncs your beats. Your doing everything a vinyl dj has to do just in a different way. I could care less if people consider me less of a DJ. I'm not here to impress anyone. I do it cause I love to do it, END OF STORY!

It was totally like Groove. I think I saw Freddie do the Paul Oakenfold "finger point" thing and Nate D gave someone "the nod."

na I wouldn't think so, it's good to be able to use all modes of serato, just in case you show up to a show and they have crappy tables or crappy cdj's or whatever.  All that matters is that you feel comfortable mixing whatever way you do and you can rock it.  enough said.  :)

it's a last resort for me, but i don't use it cause i am more comfortable in cd's or tables. like liteM. said. if u get shitty decks than i would.

Tell him he's a DJ in Elko for a reason, and ask him if the trailer park likes his Garth Brooks mashups.

It really does come down to personal preference... but one of the things that bugs me about internal mode is I can't grab onto something to slow down or speed up the track playing as I can with a turntable. I just like having that manual control of the platter.

i hate playing internal because i feel like my hand on vinyl is more rythmic than pushing a button. being able to push that button however does not mean you know how to beat match/dj.

This sums it up.

yup, rather use tables/cdjs for mixing. every serato dj should learn how to play internal though.
