Re: Greggory Allen & Hobbz on DarkStar 801... TONITE!!!
« Reply #177 on: August 27, 2009, 01:21:20 PM »
Presented by The Cat's Den and Lunchbox Radio

August 27th, 2009 will old-schooler:

Greggory Allen

The Year was 1998 Greggory Allen was becoming well known for his tight programming, hard hitting floor destructing energetic sets.

After honing his skills opening up for acts like Deepsky, Micro, Frankie bones, and coming in 3rd in the Def-con DJ contest at Area 51, Greggory Allen moved to Washington in early 2000 where he continued honing his skills with Klubstompers. He then attended school in Tempe Arizona at the Conservatory for recording arts and sciences in 2002. After returning to Utah he hung up his headphones to devote his time to raising his sons and became one of the most sought after bo bo kissers, was known to mix a mean chocolate milk, and was always down to clean house. But the passion for music and a good mix could not rest!

I heard just the start to Odix's set, I had to go run an errand, but I have to say it was really, really good, props Odix was better than I was even thinking it would be.

And Son:R I need that shit on cd. Dope, straight up dope. Starting out with Rasta shit, and ending with porno lounge, hell yeah.........

<3 to LBR, and Darkstar 801. I am very happy about all the work everyone puts into it, and the existence of the show.

It is consistently good every week! :)

Presented by The Cat's Den and Lunchbox Radio

Our September 10th, 2009 episode will feature Chris Sick's newest release:

Quotient & Square” is a mix of beautifully crafted breakbeats that encompasses the progressive breaks sound as well as shines on the experimental sound in breakbeats that pushes the limits of the genre. With “Quotient & Square” I’ve tried to flex my mixing abilities by showing several styles – long drawn-out intricately layered mixing, as well as chopped up, cut up busy mixes. Also, this is the first cd I’ve ever released in which I recorded my scratching…trying to make the scratches flow with the music and just add a layer of harmony to the music rather then highlight scratching itself. I hope you all enjoy the mix as much as I do, and look forward to general comments and feedback from the listener and the dancer.” - Chris Sick

1. Dune “Prologue”
2. Dave Brennan “Drink Deep” (James Zabiela Rmx)
3. Sean Quinn & Andy Page “SQAP”
4. Sphongle “Dorset Perception”
5. Sasha “Fundamental”
6. Rennie Pilgrem “defender”
7. Hi-Fi Bugs “Lydian and the Dinosaur”
8. Andy Page & Lee Burridge “Maladjusted”
9. Transcendental Love Machine “Electrastar”
10. Jez & Choopie “Yim” (Hybrid rmx)
11. DPP “Mexico” (Kilowatt’s Grasiento rmx)
12. Tipper “Unlock the Geometry”
13. Aphex Twin “2 men”
14. Baby Ford “Normal” (Aphex Twin’s Helston Ford rmx)
15. Future Sound of London “Papua New Guinea” (Hybrid rmx)
16. Hybrid “In Good We Trust”
Finished copies of the mix are available at House of Sick, 344 S. State Street.

Our October 8th, 2009 episode will reprezent w/:

Roto Kantus

In the summer of 2002, Roto began his love affair for EDM
with a collection of breakbeats, drum and bass, and house music.
Over the years he has learned to incorperate many more genre's to
create the perfect ambiance for the right place and time. Dubstep has
been the biggest influence in his music career lately and
he has successfully founded a dub night to spread the sound.

This Thursday, November 12th's, edition will feature some psychadelic soundz from:

Defeatz
Solid Unda' Ground

"Defeatz started mixing in the latter part of 2008, and is a very up and coming dj. He plays many types of music, but really enjoys psytrance. He first heard psytrance is 2007 and was instantly hooked. His music is sure to get the crowd dancing, sending them off into psychedelic space, and then come crash landing back with the dirty beatz! You guys don't want to miss this. It's a definate change in pace from the past few weeks shows. Defeatz throws down some really up-tempo, danceable melodies. It's almost impossible to not bob your head. The progression is really fluid, and it takes you up-and-down through many depths, and varieties of psy. It's REALLY groovy. Nice work Defeatz!

...and I am sure Son:R will have something good to set the stage. This week will kick ass! I can't wait for Thursday!
