Sorry Steve... I am just not a deep house fan. Never have been, and probably never will be. I am sure it's a great mix for what it is, but I just can't listen for more than 5 minutes cause I start drifting.... maybe that's what it's supposed to do?
I'll be the first to admit I have a short attention span!
That's
exactly what deep house is supposed to do. It should also make you dance a bit, but not so much that you have to vomit. Not all music can make you feel like you're electrocuting your balls with a car battery while standing naked in the snow...Intensity is good, and I'm not saying that I can't understand the visceral qualities of the harder styles, but every now and then it's nice to relax a bit. Consider the following analogy...It's fun to do shots of Jagermeister, but sometimes it's nice to sip a fine cognac. Other times still, perchance to just have some lemonade or, as is the case with dubstep, to fill a water balloon with urine and throw it at a bear.
Variety is the spice of life.
Cumin is the spice of ground cilantro seeds.
Seriously, though, I take no offense. It's just what I was feeling that day. I've got a pure techno mix and a peak hour-ish house mix in the pipeline as well. And even a dubstep mix, but I'm working on track selection. I want to get it right so it doesn't seem like I'm just going through the motions. I'd like to do it until I really understand and can appreciate it a little.
